I was in Manotick with my team for an important conversation with the Ottawa Police Service (OPS) and community members as they continue planning for the South District Policing Model being implemented in early 2027. Our conversations centred on rural realities – massive geography, limited resources – offering constructive feedback on what community policing should look like in our rural area and how OPS can strengthen its connection with the community and work with us to identify challenges and build solutions together.
They’ll be taking all the feedback as they work to bridge existing gaps ahead of implementation, ensuring the new model is built on a strong and informed foundation from the very beginning. As the conversation continues, if you or your organization wants to get involved – reach out to my office and we’ll connect you to the OPS team.
