ALTO High Speed Rail Update & Public Consultations

At my recent town halls, some of you raised thoughtful questions about the Alto high-speed rail project – especially about where the track could go and the potential impacts on woodlands and wildlife habitat. Alto is a federal Crown corporation providing vision and oversight for the Government of Canada, working with its delivery partner. I encourage you to take part in their public consultations:

  • Leave comments directly on Alto’s interactive map – you can drop location-specific notes (e.g., sensitive natural areas, trail connections, constraints, opportunities) within the study corridor.
  • Join the public consultation (online and in-person options): the consultation runs January 15 to March 29, 2026.
  • The online consultation platform is available 24/7 and includes the map, a survey, and options to submit written feedback.
  • While the Ottawa in-person sessions have passed, there are bilingual in-person open house sessions in Gatineau on March 11.
