The City of Ottawa is reconstructing a two-kilometre section of Bank Street to expand the road from two to four lanes and enhance safety for all users. The project includes a raised median, upgraded signalized intersections with protected cycling features, approximately four kilometres of new sidewalks and cycle tracks, landscaped grass boulevards, and 0.6 kilometres of paved shoulders.

CONSTRUCTION

• The 400mm sanitary forcemain testing will be complete at the beginning of next week. As long as the forcemain passes all remaining tests, the hole at the pump station will be backfilled and the old 300mm forcemain will be abandoned.
• Road construction (excavation, placement of granular material & subdrains) is ongoing for the road widening on the east side of Bank Street, north of the Rotary Way intersection.
• Installation of permanent signage and pavement markings between the southern limits (Blais and Miikana) to just south of Findlay Creek Dr is being scheduled.
• The concrete centre median is being constructed north of White Alder/Analdea, and at intersecting minor roads.
• Streetlight installations north of the White Alder/Analdea intersection.

TRAFFIC

• A minimum of one lane will always be maintained on Bank Street. Flagging can be expected for very short durations to accommodate safe access and egress of equipment. 
• Multiple traffic setups are still required at Findlay Creek, White Alder/Analdea and Rotary Way intersections intermittently to complete numerous construction operations. All turning movements will be accommodated at impacted intersections with ongoing thorough coordination with the City’s Signals and Traffic Groups. Police will be present when necessary to help maintain traffic movements.
• Concrete jersey barriers were installed in Leitrim park today to block vehicles from improperly driving through the park. Pedestrian and cyclists are still able to access the park normally.
