Celebrating Ottawa 200 with a commemorative tree at Andy Shields Park

At Council this past week, a motion was passed to support a commemorative tree planting project celebrating the 200th anniversary of Bytown. As part of Ottawa’s 200th celebrations, one tree will be planted in each ward, accompanied by a plaque recognizing the milestone. The commemorative tree in our Ward will be planted at Andy Shields Park in Greely. Planting is scheduled for fall 2026, between early October and mid-November, weather permitting. Residents can look forward to this lasting tribute that reflects both the community’s roots and its continued growth.
