Planting For Tomorrow: Free Trees for Rural Residents

South Nation Conservation Authority (SNCA) and the Raisin Region Conservation Authority (RRCA) are helping Eastern Ontario grow greener this spring by partnering with local municipalities to give away 10,000 free native and naturalized trees and shrubs. This annual program is a wonderful opportunity for residents to add beauty to their properties while also helping to build a healthier, more resilient rural landscape for future generations.

Each tree planted is a small but meaningful step toward protecting our watersheds, strengthening local ecosystems, and supporting the natural spaces that make our rural communities so special. Trees help reduce flooding, drought, and erosion, while also creating habitat for birds, pollinators, and other wildlife. By planting in our own yards and communities, residents are playing an important role in caring for the land we all share.

Residents in the SNC area who would like to receive a free seedling bundle can reserve one online. Quantities are limited, and pick-up is expected in late April and early May, with species varying by municipality and availability.
