Preparing for potential power outages

With unpredictable weather comes a higher risk of power outages and other disruptions. It’s important to take a moment to review the tips below and ensure your household is prepared for sudden and unpredictable weather changes.

How to prepare before an outage:

  • Be ready to be self-sufficient for atleast 72 hours
  • Assemble or update your emergency kit with the following: essential medications, first-aid supplies, flashlights and fresh batteries, battery-operated radio, manual can opener, canned food and bottled water, blankets, pet food, important documents and phone numbers
  • Fully charge all mobile devices and laptops
  • If you rely on specialized medical equipment, ensure you have a backup power plan or an alternate location where you can safely go
  • Residents with mobility challenges who depend on an elevator should notify building management in advance in case assistance is needed
